While many would discuss the aspects of developmental disorder and learning disabilities, this article would like to focus more on intellectual giftedness and present a general view upon what defines intellectual giftedness and the many forms that exist in the world today. The traditional way to describe it is the intellectual ability that is much higher than what is commonly found in most people. We are talking about children in this article and the phenomenon that most of the intellectually gifted children often develop their mental faculties at a far faster rate than their physical growth can catch up with; which would make them seem wiser and far older than their age.

One good example of a prodigious talent would be of course Albert Einstein, who developed his speech and cognitive functions at a rate so explosive, his natural growth hormones were not able to keep up. It is believed that intellectual giftedness is defined when children of an acceptable age seem to accelerate through the various stages of development as defined by scientist like Freud and Jean Piaget. They seem to have advanced sensual, intellectual, emotional, imaginative and psychomotor functions, far above what normal children are able to accomplish. They learn and are able to absorb and apply information at an astonishing speed and what sets them apart from the normal children is their ability to evolve information intrinsically and re create or create completely new incarnations of what they have learned. This would explain why Mozart was able to recreate such fantastic music, after grasping its basic principles within a short time and re creating it with his own touch.

How do you identify giftedness? Well there are many ways for you to recognise this and they are often associated with IQ tests or event more unconventional methods of testing. Some schools have specialised teachers who are trained to identify children who are gifted, often when they have fulfilled the tenets of either challenging current curricula or proposing theories back to the teachers. This is often broken down into further categories of leadership, artistic creativity and academic performance. While these are the more traditional ways of identifying giftedness, there are better ways of testing which include observation and application of more advanced test that far supersede the standard IQ test currently being employed.

One of the more eccentric qualities of intellectually gifted people are their tendency to have perfectionism, which in essence is their constant high standards and judging of those who are not able to reach them. They are also fiercely judgemental on themselves, which means they are creating a social environment which is both restrictive to them and the people around them, which often leads into areas of isolation. Being gifted does include some personality changes, which often leads to eccentric behaviour on their part as well, which explains why some members of society view them as irregular. These are some principles of intellectual giftedness – useful information to get you started on the subject.

MindMatters Psychology Practice provides child development support services for children and young adults. They also provide an Autism Test [http://www.mmpp.com.sg/giftedness-testing.html] for children.

If you wanted to learn to speak French fast then this article will definitely assist you. What you need to know about learning to speak French fast is that there are 3 essential tips to help you succeed. No matter how rushed you are always take these 3 tips into context. At the beginning make sure you do it properly, you need to make study fun and you need to talk French regularly. By the end of this article you should be able to have the resource to learn fast.

So the first tip in order for you to learn French fast is to always begin the lesson properly. I know this sounds kind of broad so let’s narrow it down. What I mean is that you need to take the time to get the pronunciation right. Many people who are in a rush to learn fast forget to practice this and in the end no one understands them! Never rush it no matter how fast you need to learn French, it will not help!

When learning another language it can be pretty difficult and instead of having a positive feeling when it’s time to learn, you feel like it’s a burden to you. It can feel like you have to do it not WANT to do. However there are alternatives to reading a text book. What I mean is you can always go rent a French movie and listen to it with subtitles. This is a great way to learn French because it will help you out with the pronunciations. Not only that you get to watch a movie!

Last key is to speak French regularly. Don’t just speak it in your study time but actually speak it whenever you think about it. This for one will help your memory and two it will help you speak it more fluently. If you don’t know when, speak it to yourself when you’re in the shower or about to eat lunch or about to sleep. I have many friends who tried to learn French and the best way they did it was to make friends who already spoke French to help them!

So there you have it, make sure you take your time at the beginning no matter how rushed for time you are. Make your studies fun by throwing in movies not just text and talk French regularly by yourself or with friends. These 3 tips are crucial if you want to learn to speak French Fast.

There’s no reason why you should have to spend months trying to learn French. Click here to get the information you need to effectively learn how to speak french fast. Join thousands who have been successful in learning this language and enjoyed it!

What Exactly are Homophones?

Basically, homophones are defined as words which sound exactly alike, but are spelled differently and have different meanings. Not only are they oftentimes confusing for English as a foreign language learner, but even for native speakers as well. Homophones though, can be interesting and fun to teach to learners who usually enjoy the play of word sounds even if they don’t always quite understand the meanings, usage and definitions. Let’s have a brief look at some of the scores of double and triple homophones in the English language.

Triple Homophones in the English Language

There are fewer triple homophones in the English language than double homophones so we’ll look at few of these first.

By buy bye

Pete peet peat

To too two

Four fore for

Despite the differences in spellings, there is essentially no discernable difference in the pronunciation between these three-word homophone groups. Try as you might, you won’t hear any difference in the way they sound. Which one is being used becomes discernable only through its application in context.

Double Homophones in the English Language

When it comes to double or two-word homophone pairs in the English language, there is definitely no shortage of them. They seemingly come at you from almost every direction at times. Here is just a handful sampling of some of the more commonly heard of homophones in the English language.

Passed past

Pie pi

Choose chews

Die dye

Sex sects

Do due

Nose knows

Their there

Eye I

Feat feet

Beat beet

Hear here

Jeans genes

Where wear

Bourn bourne

We wee

In inn

Hi high

Tee tea

Him hymn

You ewe

No know

Which witch

Do dew

Many More Homophones Exist in the English Language

The list certainly goes on and on, but by now you certainly must get the idea.

Try having your learners use these in context to help their understanding of the meanings. Try a “spelling bee” using homophones or create short lists which give meanings between specific pairs of homophones. You can also be on the lookout for them when reading papers, articles and online texts. Anyway you might decide to use and teach the theme of homophones in the English language, they can be most interesting and fun for your English as a foreign language learners. Try them out for yourself and you’ll see.

Practice is one part of it. Learning how to observe is another part of it. Paying attention to what you see is yet another aspect.

If you know what you are looking for, it is a lot easier to find it. That is one principle that bird-watching shares with business and human relations and travel. If you know where you are going, it is easier to tell when you have reached your destination. If you have no direction or goals, you can amble and wander aimlessly for years without seeing birds or profits.

Form follows function. Therefore, I invite you to see that

* Bills
* Feet
* Wings
* Size and
* Shape

are all important ways of separating birds into different categories. But there is an even more important first step to help you identify the birds you see. Think about your role as a birdwatcher (birder). There you are appreciating the wonders of the natural world around you and the first simple observation you make is a real estate issue.

LOCATION. Location. LOCATION. Where are you? Identifying birds starts with this simple question.

For example, if you are on the beaches of Hawaii you can expect to see Hawaiian birds, like the magnificent frigate bird but you are not likely to see penguins or puffins. Or if you are standing on a rock overlooking the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia you can expect to see hawks, vultures, ravens, crows overhead, but not a roadrunner or sage grouse. This is because each of the types of birds (species) has its own range where it is most likely to find the environmental conditions suitable for its living needs.

The needs of each of the different types of birds varies with the season, too. During the mating season for each bird species, nesting materials and locations for nests are extremely important. In addition, once the baby birds hatch, they will need a lot of food. Therefore the selection of a nesting site near a good quality food source is critical to the survival of that brood of birds, and sometimes that also means to the survival of that entire species.

So, I was not joking when I said your specific location is very helpful to begin to learn what birds you are seeing or hearing. Some birds live in many places and have wide tolerances for environmental differences, house sparrows and house finches and starlings are examples of this broad adaptability. I have seen these three types of birds in every state in the United States that I have visited. (I still have a couple of states to explore.)

What makes bird-watching so much fun is looking for the types of birds that are specialized for particular locations or those which are really rare and hard to find. One example could be the phainopepla (FAY -no- pep-la) which is found in some riparian areas in the American Southwest. If you think of a cardinal with its red crest and black eyes you have the general shape and size of a phainopepla, except it is black and has red eyes and lives in the desert, not in Eastern or Northern forests.

I encourage you to start looking around at the wild animals that live near you. Too often we see exotic species on television and know more about the rainforest than we do about our own backyard. Once you start to see them, you can begin to observe them. Later, you can identify them if you choose. I believe you will begin to discover many different types of birds right in your neighborhood.

Classic education is has one of the most rigorous curricula and is one of the most traditional. Education is considered classical when there is an emphasis on language (normally Latin). Language functions as the foundation of liberal arts.

There is also a concentration on the classical heritage of intellectual and artistic brilliance. Grammar, logic, and rhetoric are taught to develop sophistication in thought and word. There is also demanding training in mathematics and scientific reasoning.

Learning can usually be broken down into two different types: learning to acquire a skill and learning to achieve meaning. Learning to acquire a new skill is knowledge-based, and its end goal is performance. This type of learning is great for those who want to learn how to perform surgery or how to invest in the stock market.

Learning to achieve meaning is a little more difficult to describe, and it is much more than just performance-based. Classic education provides students with the means to develop their intellectual nature. Learning how to reason and think critically are skills that will never age.

Both types of learning are important, but there is an obvious difference between the two. Someone once said that knowledge-based learning can help us “build new roads and bridges, but it cannot explain where we want to go.”

Learning for meaning helps us determine “where we want to go.” We can’t just rely on a road to get us to our end destination without learning how to determine what we need to meet our goal.

For over two thousand years, classic education has been the instrument for conveying meaning from generation to generation. It was the education that was taught to medieval philosophers and to the Founding Fathers of the United States of America.

Few students who are taught through knowledge-based learning alone can preserve their applicability because of the world’s constant changes. However, students who receive a classic education learn how to reason, which will apply to all of life’s changes.

Even though this educational method was created over 2,000 years ago, it remains the most pertinent learning model for today. Knowledge-based learning will continue to become outdated as new skills are needed day after day. Learning for meaning will never become that way.

Hola! Is there anything else that you would like to try in order to learn the Spanish language? There are, in fact, so many ways which have already been tried by many language practitioners. Not all of these things though work for everyone and since each person prefers one method over another, it just proves that compatibilities have to form between the material and the learner.

Most people who have studied the Spanish language would usually be too conscious of learning, understanding and then translating a Spanish sentence or phrase to English word by word. This is one of the most common errors a learner commits because the subtle side to it shows that if each word is translated to English, there will be less misunderstanding. It’s really ironic because the often this is practiced, the worse it gets. Word of advice, refrain from this type of learning approach.

What you need to concentrate more on is how a cluster of words appeal to you. By reading Spanish texts or materials and taking note of the words that doesn’t make sense to you, improving your vocabulary and general understanding of it becomes easy. It may take you days, weeks and even months to accomplish it but it’s worth all the effort. The words or phrases you have taken note of will also help immensely since a quick read of it will trigger cues in to your memory and the correct use or meaning of it will always stick to your mind. The reason? It gives your mind a reason not to make the same mistakes again. Thus, making you learn as you go.

Take advantage of the Spanish advertisement you can easily watch or hear over the radio, cable TV, Internet radio and the Internet in general. Though the words may seem strange at first, the approach of commercials is to mainly dig in deep to your mind the captivating words of the different products that are being endorsed. The same thing happens to you, never mind the product of the ad, but cling on to the Spanish words and the more you hear and try to understand what it simply means, the easier you will be able to use it on your own.

Many people are drawn to healthcare jobs. It could be that they had an experience with a doctor, dentist or nurse that went beyond the call of duty and was inspiring in their personal lives. It could be that they excelled in the sciences in high school and wanted to find a career that would allow them to focus on that branch of knowledge. Those who are drawn to work in the healthcare field have a common trait: they like to work with and help people. If this describes you, you might be searching for health care training and education to help you pursue your dream of working in a health care profession. One convenient way to do that is to take online classes. With the convenience offered by Internet classes, you can receive a quality education at your pace and on your preferred schedule.

There are a wide variety of healthcare careers from which you can choose. For example, a Patient Care Technician is one that appeals to many. This is a diploma program offered through accredited colleges, and the training you will receive will allow you to perform tasks related to hematology, phlebotomy and urinalysis. You will also be trained in the skills necessary to work in a hospital, extended care facility, a nursing home, or to participate in a home health care team.

Patients who have certain diseases or injuries can benefit from physical therapy. You might choose to begin a career as a Physical Therapist Assistant. You will help improve mobility, relieve pain, and restore function to patients under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This is a program that can be completed in two years and will result in an Associate’s degree.

If you enjoy working with people and computers, then look into a degree in Health Information Technology. You will put your computer skills to work in compiling and managing health information databases. Patient safety is paramount in the profession, and part of this job is to ensure that a patient’s information and privacy are recorded accurately and held in a secure manner. People in this career can work in a wide variety of venues, including hospitals, insurance and managed care organizations, and more.

A related health care career can be a perfect fit if you love animals. You might choose a career path as a Veterinary Technician. You will work under a Veterinarian’s supervision to perform medical tests, treat and diagnose medical conditions in animals. You will received training on anatomy and physiology of domestic animals, animal nutrition, animal nursing and large animal care, diagnostic imaging, and training in common lab procedures.

There are a wide number of choices in healthcare careers for which training is available. Utilizing the ease and convenience of online courses from accredited colleges and universities has never been easier.

Susan Slobac received her health care training and education and was able to quickly enter the workforce in pursuit of a healthcare career. Susan reports that healthcare jobs can be challenging but that for people who want to pursue jobs that are in demand a healthcare career can bring a great deal of satisfaction.

If you’ve spent the early part of the 2000s frozen in a block of ice then you missed it. Computers are taking over the world. This is music to the ears of computer geeks and specialists. A degree in computer science ensures you will always have a job opening as more firms rely on more technologies and more business focus their efforts on the Web.

The even better news for computer science majors is there are lots of computer science scholarships available. As tech firms have hit it big on Wall Street they have looked back to offer a hand up to the next generation of innovators, designers and programmers.

Like most majors, colleges of computer science offer their own in-house scholarships. These awards vary in amount, but the real money in the world of often lies outside the world of higher education.

Many tech-reliant firms, such as Hewlett Packard, Google and Sun Microsystems, offer computer science scholarships. Many of these scholarships are given out at a national level. But tech-based businesses do give awards through local schools or endow quality computer science programs that routinely provide qualified graduates and interns.

Microsoft, for example, gave out $500,000 in scholarships during the 2006-2007 school year. They have four basic types of computer science scholarships. They award general scholarships and scholarships for women, underrepresented minorities and students with disabilities. The bad news: You’ll be competing with students from across North America to get the money.

There is plenty of good news on the computer science scholarship front for women. There are loads of awards specifically for women entering computer science and related fields. These scholarships are supported by schools, private business and non-profit groups. There is a large push right now for more women to enter math- and science-related fields. The amount of scholarship money available may be the deciding factor if you’re a young woman considering computer science.

Newton’s First Law Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. This we recognize as essentially Galileo’s concept of inertia, and this is often termed simply the “Law of Inertia”.

Newton’s’ Second Law The relationship between an object’s mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors in this law the direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector. This is the most powerful of Newton’s three Laws, because it allows quantitative calculations of dynamics: how do velocities change when forces are applied. According to Newton, a force causes only a change in velocity (an acceleration); it does not maintain the velocity. This is sometimes summarized by saying that under Newton, F = ma. According to Newton an object with a certain velocity maintains that velocity unless a force acts on it to cause an acceleration (that is, a change in the velocity). Or in the case of a whip the mass decreases.

Newton’s Third Law For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. I think this is probably self explanatory.

Now if we add Galileo’s findings on inertia (see below) We have a complete real world explanation of the action of a whip. Galileo’s concept of inertia: an object in a state of motion possesses an ” inertia” that causes it to remain in that state of motion unless an external force acts on it. In order to arrive at this conclusion, which will form the cornerstone of Newton’s laws of motion (indeed, it will became Newton’s First Law of Motion), Galileo had to abstract from what he, and everyone else, saw. Most objects in a state of motion do NOT remain in that state of motion. For example, a block of wood pushed at constant speed across a table quickly comes to rest when we stop pushing. Galileo, by virtue of a series of experiments (many with objects sliding down inclined planes), realized that you must account properly for a hidden force: the frictional force between the surface and the object. Thus, as we push the block of wood across the table, there are two opposing forces that act: the force associated with the push, and a force that is associated with the friction and that acts in the opposite direction. (In the case of a whip this would be friction from the air and the inherent resistance of the material of the whip.) Galileo realized that as the frictional forces were decreased (for example, by placing oil on the table or in the case of a whip the mass is reduced) the object would move further and further before stopping. From this he abstracted a basic form of the law of inertia: if the frictional forces could be reduced to exactly zero (like reducing the mass and diameter of the the whip to almost zero) an object pushed at constant speed across a frictionless surface of infinite extent will continue at that speed forever after we stop pushing, unless a new force acts on it at a later time. Here the new force would be your hand holding the end of the whip or gravity.

Hope this helps in understanding the physics of the whip.
